Books, Babies and More!

Life in the Kawaii household has been a maddening whirlwind of changes, events, growth and expansion.

Age/Sex/Location is now deep within the publishing process, and I am very excited that Brighton Publishing is handling the grunt work in making the novel ready for the commercial market. Right now it is being combed over by an editor or two, and I look forward to getting recommended edits back in the next few weeks.

Along with the new novel in my life, it appears that there is a new reader on the way too! Mr. Kawaii and I are expecting our first little reader, and he/she should arrive sometime mid-May. Trying to figure out pregnancy, what kind of parents we want to be, and how we are going to juggle kids and managing our own businesses adds a new set of weights to an already delicate balancing act. Hopefully we'll figure things out and come out the other side no worse for wear.

I hope that all of you are doing well in your own lives and that you are growing, learning and expanding along with us. Stay tuned... I'm sure the ride will get a whole lot more exciting, unpredictable and interesting as we keep marching forward in this crazy, awesome life.

True Midnight Ramblings

Ah, July. Normally a time of constant celebration, this month has been especially trying and filled with sleepless nights and wandering days. I am looking forward to August when friends return from far off places, grief will be a little closer to subdued, and life will begin to return to normalcy (I hope). In a fit of sleeplessness spurred from a sorrow filled day on the horizon, a late-night emergency and lots of random thoughts and feelings I decided to hover around the internets a while until my eyes start to feel a little more heavy. I had received a notification that there have been some updates here on Blogger/Blogspot and so I decided to check them out now that I am left with very little to do for the next 8 hours or so. Getting Ready...

... for my very first author appearance in November. It's exciting! It's nerve wracking! It's a great opportunity! It's terrifying! It's going to be a great way to kick off the holiday season! I've got some books on order so there will be copies of both Age/Sex/Location: Love is Just a Click Away and A Giraffe In The Room available for sale. This is my first step into taking my writing on the road - maybe 2014 will include a book tour if this goes well...?

Don't Wait

I awoke Friday morning to a message from someone whose name was only vaguely familiar. Laying in bed, scrolling through Facebook on my cell phone, I opened the message. It was a quick note from a woman who was good friends with a woman who I have been close to for over a decade. I read it, and reeled with shock. My friend, a woman who had been with me through the best and worst of times, is gone. Taken from this life because of a driver who didn't stop at a stop sign on a country road.
