True Midnight Ramblings

Ah, July.  Normally a time of constant celebration, this month has been especially trying and filled with sleepless nights and wandering days.  I am looking forward to August when friends return from far off places, grief will be a little closer to subdued, and life will begin to return to normalcy (I hope).

In a fit of sleeplessness spurred from a sorrow filled day on the horizon, a late-night emergency and lots of random thoughts and feelings I decided to hover around the internets a while until my eyes start to feel a little more heavy.  I had received a notification that there have been some updates here on Blogger/Blogspot and so I decided to check them out now that I am left with very little to do for the next 8 hours or so.

You may notice that this blog, as well as my other two blogs (A Smaller Bottom and Meet Your Marker), has received a sudden face-lift.  I was really surprised at the new backgrounds and customizations on the templates toolbar, and had a lot of fun putting the new backgrounds and color schemes together.  The new setup makes it easy to have blogs that are not only more attractive as a whole, but also creating a more professional and polished appearance.  Impressive.

And now that the clock is nearing the 1:00 hour, I shall bid you readers out there adieu.  Here's to hoping that I can get to sleep before the day really begins.

    Thank you! It seems that the wee hours of the morning are the only time I can ever get my thoughts straight... probably because everyone who normally intrudes them are off dreaming of new ways to keep me busy. ;)

Proofing.

The first printed copy of A Giraffe in the Room has arrived in my office. The giant "Proof" stamp is wonderful to see, and I am looking forward to picking through the pages to make sure that the novelette is ready to be released commercially. Every time writing takes a step forward - whether it is the completion of a piece, reading through editing mark ups for the first time, or getting a print proof in the mail, it is a wonderful feeling. I hope that everyone who finds their passion gets the chance to feel the pride of taking a step forward.  I will say that at under 50 pages, I think A Giraffe in the Room looks a little bit like a pamphlet that someone would hand you through the open crack of your screen door as they try to tell you about the Good News. Other than the brevity of the thing (it is a novelette, after all), I'm very pleased with the little bit of it that I've had a chance to look over. I hope to comb over it this week, and estimate that copies ...

The 2nd Edition of Adaline is LIVE!

Guess what? I've been writing. Biocide, the second book in the Adaline series is in the final stages of production. I'm editing the manuscript now, and hope to have the book in print and ready for your bookshelf in just a few weeks. I'm so excited for the production of Biocide, that I just had to give Adaline a facelift to keep up with the direction that the series is going. There's a new cover, a couple of new sentences on the pages, and a nifty promotion for Biocide tucked into the back of the book.  The Adaline series is taking its next big step forward, and as always I have to thank you readers for helping me to take the leap.
